About Mendenhall Mississippi
Mendenhall is a small town and the county seat of Simpson County. The current population is around 3,000. This small town is a cozy place to live for families, and short commutes to Jackson make it even more appealing. In 1838, Mendenhall had a one-screen auditorium and balcony theatre called Star Theatre. The theatre also boasted a pool hall and housed the Chamber of Commerce. After many vandalism incidents, the theatre closed. Then, it reopened in 1979 having been remodeled. However, when video arcades became heavy competition, it was shut down again. It is better known today as the building where My Dog Skip was filmed in 2008.
