What is An Air Handler In a Commercial AC Unit?

What is An Air Handler In a Commercial AC Unit?

An AC air handler, located next to the unit’s indoor coil, helps to cool and circulate air.The handler typically contains several smaller parts, including a blower, cooling elements, filter chambers, dampers and a noise reducer. Those parts combine into a device that distributes cooled or heated air to the building and returns air back to the unit. Air handlers come in all sizes and types. Some smaller models contain only a blower, filter and coil, while some “rooftop units” are designed to sit on top of a building and condition outdoor air. For questions regarding air handlers, consult with a trained cooling contractor.
