Why Is My Thermostat Not Turning On?

When your thermostat won’t turn on, installing new batteries is the first thing to try. If you have replaced the batteries and the thermostat still will not turn on, there may be a problem with your circuit breakers or wiring. If a circuit breaker has been tripped, you can simply flip the switch back on, and the thermostat should come back on as well. If this does not work or if no breakers were tripped, there may be a problem with your electrical wiring that requires professional service. On a related note, if a thermostat display lights up, but your input has no apparent effect on your heating and cooling system, the thermostat itself may be the problem. When this is the case, it may be easier to replace the thermostat instead of repairing it.
